The proposed topic is very important to me. I have many draft notes on paper and in my memory. Thanks Iris, now I will start working on memoirs about Mother more in detail. There are too many memories, and I want to start with the main things. So far I see three main sections:
1. My mother in the section of "our roots" on the page "Our Diary" that I want to tell the next generations about. Similar to my Father's (Sokovichs') family tree "Sokovich's - family tree, notes and photos". I am working on my Mother's (Zubkovs') family tree. Here is just introduction to this section. I am working on other materials, and you can read them, following the links. It includes Zubkovs' family tree with related notes and mother's memories, recorded by my son and my brother. Here is just introduction to this section.
2. The basic values that I follow all my life, implanted in me by my mother.

3Mama, forgive me.

1. My mother in the section of "our roots" on the page "Our Diary"

My grandfather from mother's side was a rich merchant. He had 3 daughters and one son. The pictures you see were taken before the revolution 1917. First beautiful women are my ants Anna and Lidia. The girl is my mother and the boy is my uncle George. George and my grandfather, Timofey Zubkov, were to be killed by the Bolsheviks as rich men whose mentality was considered hostile to revolutionary power. As many others they tried to escape by ship through Crimea. These events were described in Nikita Mikhalkov's movie "Sunstroke". The film was selected as the Russian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards. The story is set in a prisoner-of-war camp in November 1920, in the Crimea, after the evacuation of the White Army, with several thousand White officers left behind on the peninsula. White officers board an old barge, which the Reds sink in the Black Sea, and all officers perish. Family does not know anything about the fate of George and Timofey Zubkov. It was the same as with White officers' in the movie, or... maybe they managed to escape?

We made DNA tests and sent them to www.ancestry.ca/ They are monitoring our possible ancestors. Among them is the woman with the same face as my mother's:

The woman from www.ancestry.ca

Maybe, my son or other relatives will investigate it and... who knows?

A very romantic story is connected with my father and his family. My father's family was not as rich as merchant's, but they belonged to a class Dvoryanye.

My mother, as a daughter of "Enemy of the State" wasn't allowed neither work, nor study without a reference with confirmation about her loyalty and ability to work for Soviet Republic. For getting that she was hired by my father's family as a housekeeper. Two young people fell in love with each other and got married. The entire family lived in a house built by my grand-grandparents in a large city Kharkiv in Ukraine. My mother gave birth to two children: Vova (my brother) -  in 1932 and me - in 1938.

It is very strange and surprising, that after all terrible events in her life my mother has accepted the socialistic idea and considered it more fare that it was in Czarist Russia.
