My writer's group homework: "Writing for children." I continue to pursue my main goal of writing for my grandchildren and great grandchildren. I would like my grandchildren to read this little fantasy to their children. Here I am copying the style of my son Sasha (their dad), who was recounting me many of his conversations with a dog named Kilim. The night bunnies Fantasy |

- Hi Fluffy, - I invited her. - Come here, it will be boring without you. You have an elegant white fluffy fur coat. - Thank you, I also like the way you are dressed. Especially I like your shawl. - This is a Russian style. A lot of Russians live here. Only Thumper took part in the further conversation. His girlfriend was sitting next to him, moving her ears and sparkling eyes. It would be nice if all of us, women, followed her example. - You also know us, - started Thumper. - We were often running through the yard at summer time. You did not recognize us because we had another coats, grey, in order not to be seen by some of your other, pretty dangerous neighbors. - What do you know about them? - I was curious. - In truth, we crawled out of our hiding place hoping for a treat. Your neighbor Charlie doesn't sleep at night either, and he always treats us. I know women love sweets and you probably have something tasty in your pocket. After that we could continue our conversation. I felt ashamed. - Yes, of course, sorry. I have waffles for you and your friend. I gave them waffles, watched how greedily my poor hungry neighbors ate them and spoke softly: - Еat, my dears, I promise to treat you more often. However, I was already cold, but still wanted to know what they thought of the other animal neighbors. Finally, they ate all the crumbs. - Ok, about what animals do you want to know? - Thumper continued the conversation. - Let's start with the biggest ones. - Raccoons are very strong and aggressive. They are not ashamed to ruin what you so patiently grow. Just for fun or wanting to do something nasty. Groundhogs are generally quite cute and hardworking, they create families and help each other. If they eat something from your garden, do not be offended: they are just hungry and need to be fed a little. They may eat some of your flowers, but they won't crush or ruin anything. - What do you think of skunks? - I know, you have reasons to hate them. I once saw a skunk piss on your dog, and you had a lot of trouble getting rid of that awful stink. But, I am sure, once experiencing that, your dog won't never chaise a skunk. It is the way of protecting themselves. - Probably, you are right. Sometimes at evening time we see a good looking couple, walking along the fence, and they are looking very peaceful. We do not know, what they are eating, but they are not interested in our vegetation. My husband has an interesting experience in communicating with them as with neighbors. The couple of skunks started making their home under our porch, and, of course, my husband did not like it. He stoned and cemented the hole, but the next morning they were under the porch again. This was repeated several times, until the husband made a decent building structure. - Thank you, Vita, for sharing. If you interested, I can share my thoughts about fox. Sometimes she shows up here at summer time. Ah, I like so much her beautiful red fur! In the forest she could eat me, but here, near people, - hardly. - My dear neighbors, Thumper and Fluffy, I would like to chat with you more, but I'm already cold. We have not yet discussed squirrels, we have complicated relationships. I would like to chat with them sometimes. Thanks, I already feel sleepy. Good night, see you! |
