Surgut State District Power Station-2 (Surgutskaya GRES-2)
- the most powerful thermal power station in Russia and one of the largest in the world operating on associated petroleum gas (APG).
The study was carried out using the method of Logarithmic Amplitude-Frequency Characteristics (LAFC)
without solving characteristic equations. The work received an excellent
evaluation at the All-Union Electrical Engineering Institute
(VEI), then still of the Soviet Union. It was proposed to continue deeper research in this direction.
The work examined issues of the dynamics of the excitation system of the TVV-800 turbogenerator with ARV-SDP1 manufactured by the Production Association "Elektrosila".
In case of further development, this method was recommended as an additional tool to the main method of investigation using a computer according to the VEI methodology.
The method enables personnel and potential researchers using other methods to easily visualize the physical nature of the processes and to develop a mathematical model of the system.
Note of the year 2026: The TVV-800 turbogenerator with a high-action automatic excitation regulator ARV-SDP1 manufactured by the production association "Elektrosila" (now part of JSC "Power Machines") is a classic ultra-powerful energy complex. It is such units that form the basis of Soviet power blocks with a capacity of 800 MW, including at Surgut GRES-2, where they are currently actively being modernized.
